Solution discovered for temporary school storage: a transition phase

The school on Reuterstraße is preparing for a significant change as two new containers are expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of November. This marks the end of the consolidation phase, which is expected to be over by mid to late November.

The arrival of these new containers will offer more space and have technical equipment that meets today's requirements. One of these containers, the so-called C-container, was already equipped for use during the holidays. Once the final technical details are clarified, the rooms in the C-container will also be available for digital teaching.

In addition to the new containers, the school will make use of temporary spaces. Three classrooms are now available for teaching due to the C-container. Furthermore, the neighboring music school has offered two rooms for temporary use by the school, and five rooms in the middle section of the school can be used temporarily.

However, due to almost 100% room utilization, there will be restrictions. Not every lesson will be able to take place in specialized rooms, but the school administration is working to keep these restrictions to a minimum. Alexandra Meuthen, head of the department, assures that the school is doing everything possible to ensure a smooth transition.

The school administration's efforts have been successful, as mold was found in three containers within the ceiling structure during exams. However, the mold was not found in the rooms, and there was no direct contact with it.

The decision to compensate for the mold found in three containers at the school during the summer holidays was made jointly by the school administrations of NCG and the Bergisch Gladbach city administration. The school principal, Sven Hees, is satisfied that the new strain can be compensated for to a large extent, thanks to active support from the administration.

The renovation of the middle section, originally planned for immediately after the holidays, has been postponed until the end of November. Once the consolidation phase is over, the renovation of the middle section will take place. The priority is being given to the installation of the two new containers.

All three containers could have been repaired, but it was decided to replace them with new ones due to cost-effectiveness. The school administration is confident that these changes will ensure a better learning environment for students and teachers in the coming months.
