Sochi Announces Closure of Tunnel No2A for Repair Works
The city of Sochi has announced that Tunnel No2A of the Kurortny Prospekt Bypass will be completely closed for more than a year due to repair work. The closure is set to begin on September 15, 2025, and will last until December 2, 2026.
Vyacheslav Bauer, the Deputy Head of Sochi, mentioned that the repair of Tunnel No2A is a process that will last approximately one year and three months. He emphasized that the repair works require stringent safety measures to ensure the safety of all road users.
According to Bauer, a temporary traffic scheme will be organized to maintain access to all city districts during the repair works. The detour will exit onto the Sochi Bypass. During the repair works, a temporary detour scheme will be organized through Tunnel No1.
The repair works on Tunnel No2A are expected to affect traffic through the tunnel. Bauer confirmed that the repair works are planned to take place in 2025 and 2026. He also stated that the repair works on federal roads on the Djubga-Sochi highway, as previously reported, are ongoing.
The tunnel is located between the intersections at Fabritsius Street and Razdolnoe village. Bauer emphasized that the repair of Tunnel No2A is a process that requires ensuring all safety measures, resulting in complete traffic closure during the works.
