Sochi ramps up accessibility checks for people with disabilities in 2025
A working group in Sochi has carried out a fresh round of inspections to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Over 500 consumer service facilities across the city were surveyed in 2025 as part of ongoing monitoring efforts. The latest checks focused on key areas, including Chebrikov Street and Donskaya Street.
A field meeting took place with specialists from different departments and agencies. Nine facilities in Sochi's Central District were examined during the session. Oleg Stekolnikov, director of the Regional Competence Center for an Accessible Environment, also attended.
The inspections included on-site visits with representatives of people with disabilities. This approach aimed to spot and resolve critical issues quickly. Alexander Devin, acting director of the Resort, Tourism, and Consumer Services Department, stressed the need to serve all visitors, particularly those with limited mobility.
The preventive assessment uncovered several problems in the inspected locations. However, no specific details have been released about the number of facilities requiring concrete adjustments.
The inspections form part of wider efforts to ensure public spaces meet accessibility standards. Regular checks with disability representatives help address barriers in real time. Authorities continue to monitor progress across Sochi's consumer service facilities.
