Smitty's Supply Fire: EPA and LDEQ announce air monitoring results below harmful thresholds

The fire incident at Smitty's facility in Roseland, Louisiana, continues to be a focus of attention for multiple agencies. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are working together on-site with the Unified Command and various federal, state, and local agencies to address the situation.

In addition, LDEQ is currently collecting water samples from areas impacted by offsite soot deposition around Smitty's facility. Results from the water sample analysis are expected within the next 48 hours. As of the release, all air monitoring results have shown either non-detectable readings or levels well below health-based or actionable thresholds.
