Small aircraft collision results in fatalities for two individuals

In the Fläming region, south of Berlin, a tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a small plane (Kleinflugzeug) crashed shortly after takeoff from Reinsdorf Airport. The news was initially reported by the Märkische Allgemeine.

The aircraft, which was carrying two men aged 62 and 66, came down in a field or meadow next to the airport. The pilot of the Saarmund crash, who was 69 years old, tragically lost his life despite resuscitation attempts.

The exact cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The destination of the flight is unknown at this time.

The incident took place within the municipality of Lower Fläming, in the district of Teltow-Fläming, while the Saarmund crash occurred within the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark—a different location than the current crash site.

Upon hearing the news, a large number of police and rescue services rushed to the scene. Reinsdorf Airport, which has runways for gliders and motor planes, was abuzz with activity as they worked to manage the situation.

Last year, a light aircraft crashed at Saarmund Sports Airport south of Potsdam.

In the evening, a wheel loader was seen removing the wreckage of the plane from the field. The police expect further information on the crash to be released on Monday.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this terrible accident.
