Slot machines may soon incorporate facial recognition technology.
In the ever-evolving world of technology, Xallient, an IT consulting and security firm, has introduced a groundbreaking product that's set to transform the casino industry - Casino Eye-D. This innovative system utilises facial recognition technology to monitor and track high-value customers in casinos.
The technology behind Casino Eye-D is remarkable, capable of being fitted into cameras on extremely low-cost chipsets. This makes it accessible for a wide range of casinos, not just the high-end establishments.
Currently, casinos track an average of 15% of players and 45% of gaming revenue. With the implementation of Casino Eye-D, Xallient estimates that this could increase significantly, potentially boosting the tracking rate to 99% of players and 95% of revenue.
The system's applications extend beyond simply rating and comping high rollers. It can potentially be used to access VIP lounges, members areas, and other exclusive benefits awarded to high roller patrons. Additionally, Casino Eye-D is equipped with an AI technology that can track the mood of patrons as they play, a potential tool for compliance in overseas territories and a means to increase revenue in the US.
Several major casinos are currently in the rollout phase of Xallient's facial recognition system, with announcements planned for later in 2025. However, specific casino names have not been publicly disclosed yet.
The rollout of operators using Casino Eye-D technology has not been revealed yet, but given the potential benefits, it's likely that more casinos will adopt this technology as visitor numbers to popular gaming destinations like Sin City continue to decline.
Mallika Patel, Xallient's vice president of product, emphasised the potential of Casino Eye-D, stating that if casinos can rate all uncarded play and convert the most profitable non-members into members, the gross gaming revenue can increase significantly.
Casino Eye-D made its debut at the 2024 Global Gaming Expo in The Venetian, Las Vegas, and with its promising features, it's set to redefine the gaming industry. The technology could potentially replace keys for hotel room doors, further enhancing the convenience and security for both casinos and their patrons.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, Casino Eye-D represents a significant leap forward, offering a more personalised and efficient gaming experience for both casinos and their high-value customers.
