Sky Unveils Next-Generation Smart TV: Sky Glass Gen 2

Sky has announced the launch of its second-generation Smart TV, the Sky Glass Gen 2. The new model, developed in-house by the UK broadcaster, promises upgrades in both screen and sound quality.

The Sky Glass Gen 2 will be available in three sizes (43", 55", and 65") and three colours: Carbon Grey, Cotton White, or Sea Green. A new addition to the lineup, Sky Glass Air, will bring the Glass experience at a lower price point later in the year, available in the same screen sizes and colours, as well as three new options: Volcanic Grey, Arctic Silver, and Atlantic Blue.

The screen of the Sky Glass Gen 2 has been updated to 4K Quantum Dot technology, delivering darker blacks and a wider viewing image. Compared to its predecessor, the new model boasts a brighter 4K HDR picture.

In terms of sound, the Sky Glass Gen 2 features a seven-speaker built-in system for fuller and more immersive Dolby Atmos sound. The speaker system has been re-engineered to improve the depth and shape of the soundscape. Unfortunately, Atmos will not be available on the Sky Glass Air model, which instead offers two speakers with Dolby Audio.

Sky Glass Gen 2 maintains the plug-and-play simplicity and eliminates the need for a set-top box or soundbar. It is controlled via Sky OS, a continually updated platform that offers a sophisticated playlist and favourites setting, full voice control, and a favourites setting. The remote controls for Sky Glass Gen 2 will be color-matched to the interior.

The setup process for Sky Glass Gen 2 has been designed to be even more simplified. The new version of the wall mount for Sky Glass Gen 2 can tilt, swivel, or hug the TV flush to the wall. Moreover, the rear mountings for Sky Glass Gen 2 are compatible with universal TV mounts.

Two years after its introduction, the Sky Smart Glass television won a Smart Space Award in 2023 for its Sky Live component. The Sky Glass Gen 2 model has been revealed with various picture modes for different content, such as Sport and Movies.

Sky Glass Gen 2 is set to hit the market soon, offering a smart TV experience like no other. Stay tuned for more updates!
