Single-ticket sales for a theatrical production
The state of Baden-Württemberg is embarking on an ambitious initiative called bwegt, with a goal to double the number of passengers in public transport by 2030. This initiative, which is the state's overarching initiative for sustainable and climate-friendly mobility, is set to bring significant changes to the way passengers travel and purchase tickets.
One of the key aspects of the bwegt initiative is the uniformity in fare machines and sales points. This will provide passengers with more clarity and a smoother experience. Transdev, one of the partners in this project, plans to allocate about two weeks for preparation, with DB Vertrieb adding dismantling measures. The reopening is scheduled from November.
Passengers will have various options for purchasing tickets. They can continue to use fare machines and digital distribution channels during the closing times, or they can use the DB Navigator app for long-distance travel and the bwegt app for local and regional traffic. The digital CiCoBW system allows passengers to book trips with a swipe in the bwegt app.
Occasional users will notice a significant improvement with the new bwegt passenger centers. The Video Passenger Centers in Bad Saulgau, Bad Waldsee, Leutkirch, and Wangen will be reopened to improve passenger service and accessibility. However, during the transition period, some stationary advisory and sales points will be closed for several weeks.
Ministerial Director Berthold Frieß has stated that there will be closing times during the transition from the DB travel center to the bwegt passenger center. Passengers can contact the Ministry of Transport via email or through a contact form for any queries. The telephone customer service number of the German Railway (030 2970) remains available for passengers.
For questions about the Germany Ticket and intermodal tickets, passengers can contact local transport associations. The ticket guides are in operation in Albstadt, Tübingen, and Reutlingen, with ticket guides likely to start in Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, and Friedrichshafen in early September.
Starting from autumn 2025, Transdev Vertrieb will operate advisory and sales points for rail traffic in southern Baden-Württemberg, using the bwegt design. The Video Passenger Centers in Bad Saulgau, Bad Waldsee, Leutkirch, and Wangen will be dismantled in November. The Video Passenger Center in Nürtingen will close on September 19, 2025, and the Video Passenger Center in Riedlingen will be replaced by the end of 2026. A new one will open in Laupheim Stadt by the end of 2027.
DB Vertrieb will deploy specially trained personnel at some locations to assist with ticket purchases at machines or in the DB Navigator. Passengers are encouraged to continue using these resources during the transition period.
The bwegt initiative is not just about improving the transportation system, but also about providing a better experience for passengers. By working with regional railway companies and other partners, bwegt aims to continuously improve local and regional transport for passengers.
