Single-person ticket sales for a casting event
In an effort to improve local and regional transport, the initiative bwegt aims to double the number of passengers in public passenger transport (ÖPNV) by 2030. As part of this initiative, significant changes are coming to train ticket sales in southern Baden-Württemberg.
From autumn 2025, Ticket sales for train travel will be handled by a single provider, Transdev Vertrieb. This change will also see the Regio-Nahverkehr Südwest (RNS) becoming responsible for ticket sales in the Bahnverkehr from October 2025.
During the transition period, some stationary advisory and sales points will be closed for several weeks. Passengers can continue to use fare machines and digital distribution channels during the closure times.
Ministerial Director Berthold Frieß has confirmed that there will be closure times during the transition from the DB travel center to the bwegt passenger center. However, Transdev Vertrieb plans to allocate about two weeks for preparations, to which DB Vertrieb's dismantling measures will be added.
The Video Passenger Center in Riedlingen will be replaced at the end of 2026, and a new one will open in Laupheim city at the end of 2027. Unfortunately, Video Passenger Centers in Bad Saulgau, Bad Waldsee, Leutkirch, and Wangen will be dismantled in November, with the one in Nuertingen closing on the last day of sales at the DB Travel Center on September 19, 2025. The dates for reopening are not yet set.
Transdev Vertrieb will operate advisory and sales points in the bwegt design, including passenger centers, video passenger centers, and agencies. Passengers will benefit from uniform bwegt fare machines and sales points, providing better orientation in the future.
It's worth noting that the sales agencies in Friedrichshafen-Hafen, Hechingen, Isny, Meckenbeuren, Mössingen, Rottenburg, and Stockach will continue to operate without interruption. Additionally, Transdev Vertrieb will deploy specially trained staff at some locations to assist with ticket purchases at machines or in the DB Navigator.
Ticket Guides are currently in operation in Albstadt, Tübingen, and Reutlingen, and it is expected that there will be Ticket Guides in Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, and Friedrichshafen from early September.
For any queries or concerns, the Ministry of Transport can be contacted via email at the Press Office or through a contact form for citizens.
The initiative bwegt is the overarching initiative of the state of Baden-Württemberg for sustainable and climate-friendly mobility. The changes in train ticket sales are part of a larger effort to improve and modernise public transport in the region.
