In a thrilling turn of events, Austria's very own countertenor, JJ, has expressed his delight as the Eurovision Song Contest is set to return to Vienna next year. The news comes after JJ's triumphant win at the competition in May with his pop aria "Wasted Love".

Born and raised in Vienna, JJ has a deep connection with the city that will be hosting the event for the third time. The Eurovision Song Contest finals were previously held in Vienna in 1967 and 2015.

JJ, who is only 24 years old, has already made a significant impact on the European music scene. Trained as an opera singer, he has managed to blend his classical roots with contemporary pop, creating a unique sound that resonates with audiences.

In an interview, JJ shared his playful idea about possibly moderating the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final in Vienna. He acknowledged the demands of such a role, especially given that he would be performing as the winner. However, it was later confirmed that he will not be a host for the 2026 event.

The public broadcaster ORF announced that the final will take place in Vienna, with the date set for May 16, 2026, at the Vienna Stadthalle. JJ has not yet confirmed whether he will act as a moderator at the event.

Meanwhile, JJ's fans have something else to look forward to. His follow-up single "Back To Forgetting" is set to be released this Friday, offering a new taste of his pop-oriented sound, with JJ using his high voice and classical elements less prominently than in "Wasted Love".

As the excitement builds for the Eurovision Song Contest's return to Vienna, JJ remains optimistic about what next year will bring. The European music competition, which has been a cool moment in many artists' careers, according to JJ, promises another memorable event in 2026.
