In the early hours of August 29th, a suspicious car was stopped by the police on Löwenburgstraße. The vehicle, which was later found to be involved in a suspected illegal activity, contained two brothers from Niederkassel, aged 23 and 30.

According to reports, a witness had noticed the car at a construction site in Niederkassel/Rheidt around 1:00 AM and contacted the authorities. Upon investigation, it was discovered that two tool trailers at the construction site had been broken into.

Upon searching the stopped car, the police found a concrete saw, pickaxe, shovel, bolt cutters, and a spirit level on the backseat. A wrench handle was sticking out of the open tailgate, and it was revealed that the car's license plates had been replaced with fake ones, attached with duct tape.

The men were taken into custody provisionally. However, after further investigation and processing, they were released due to lack of evidence. The exact nature of the suspected illegal activity is not specified in the article.
