Showcase in Al-Ahsa highlights advancements, financial prospects in the realm of lime manufacturing

The city of Al-Ahsa in Saudi Arabia is currently hosting the "Lomi Hasawi" exhibition, a celebration of limes from the region, which is renowned for its lime production. This event, organised by the Al-Ahsa Chamber and Al-Ahsa Development Authority, runs until September 6 and features 73 pavilions showcasing innovative lime-based products.

The exhibition, which aims to present limes, highlight derivatives, and encourage investment in related industries, attracted visitors, businessmen, and officials from the Kingdom and other Gulf countries. Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, the governor of Al-Ahsa, inaugurated the exhibition on Aug. 21.

One of the key highlights of the exhibition is the involvement of Reef Saudi, a Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, which is participating as a gold sponsor. Reef Saudi's goals align with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia's long-term development plan, and its commitment to supporting the lime sector in the Eastern Province is evident.

Reef Saudi's support has significantly boosted lime production in the region. With its grant of 91,000 US dollars, the organisation has helped increase production to more than 122,400 tonnes. Moreover, Reef Saudi empowers small farmers by developing their tools and skills, thereby boosting incomes and economic returns. In fact, the organisation provided SR342,000 ($91,000) to the lime sector in the Eastern Province, benefiting 89 farmers.

The event is not just about business, however. It also hosts youth initiatives, artisan booths, and family-oriented cottage industry activities. Interactive events include a live cooking platform, tourist programs, and handicraft workshops. These elements make the exhibition a vibrant and engaging experience for all visitors.

The competitive advantages and investment opportunities in Al-Ahsa are also underscored at the exhibition. Al-Buraikan, Reef Saudi spokesman, highlighted the high economic value of Al-Ahsa's limes and its strong marketing potential. The fruit sector is a key focus for Reef Saudi, which aims to diversify local agriculture, improve efficiency, and contribute to self-sufficiency.

The "Lomithon" hackathon, held in conjunction with the exhibition, saw over 60 entrepreneurs presenting 14 projects aimed at enhancing lime value and creating economic opportunities. This innovative approach to the lime industry underscores the potential for growth and development in the sector.

Al-Ahsa's limes play a significant role in the exhibition's focus on innovative lime-based products. Al-Buraikan also emphasised the role of Al-Ahsa's limes in processing industries. The exhibition underscores the potential for Al-Ahsa's limes to drive economic growth and contribute to the region's development.

In conclusion, the "Lomi Hasawi" exhibition is a testament to the potential of the lime industry in Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahsa region. With the support of organisations like Reef Saudi, the sector is poised for growth and development, contributing to the region's economic prosperity and the realisation of Vision 2030.
