Shoppers in the UAE significantly boosted their spending at Dubai Duty Free during August, with sales reaching a staggering Dh646 million.

August 2024 saw Dubai Duty Free set a new sales record of Dh646.23 million ($177 million), marking a 15% increase compared to August 2024 and a 9% jump from the previous August peak in 2018. This growth adds to an impressive streak earlier this year, with sales outpacing passenger growth by about 9%.
The average daily transactions at boutique stores rose to 254, and the average spend jumped to Dh8,004 from Dh7,748. Notable categories that saw significant growth include watches (+17.7%), precious jewellery (+24%), cosmetics (+9%), liquor (+3%), and electronics (+2.3%).
The 'Gifts from Dubai' concept store is set to launch in Concourse A by December, further enhancing the shopping experience for passengers. Meanwhile, Concourse A and B enjoyed a 17% sales increase in August, with Concourse C growing by 16.45% and Concourse D seeing a 7.91% growth.
UAE travellers continue to lead the way, with sales to the U.S. experiencing a 27.94% increase in August. The Indian Subcontinent also saw a 17% growth, while the Middle East recorded a 19.78% increase.
Sales of confectionery increased by nearly 69%, making it the leading category. Gold sales rose by 28.5%, while perfumes increased by 13%, cigarettes and tobacco by 11%, and Millennium Millionaire tickets by 34%. The arrivals shops in Terminal 3 saw an 11.72% increase.
Terminal 2 Departures rose by 13.6% in August, and Al Maktoum International Airport saw a 56.91% surge. Among the standout performers, Cartier in Terminal 3 posted an impressive 29.33% increase.
