Severe traffic collision causing significant injuries and road congestion in Poland

In the heart of Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on August 29, 2025, a collision involving a Chevrolet and a Ford took place at the intersection of Border street and Kurt-Schumacher-Str.

According to the Gelsenkirchen Police, the accident occurred around 2:20 PM. The Chevrolet, driven by a 44-year-old Gelsenkirchen resident, was heading west on Border street and was turning left onto Kurt-Schumacher-Str. Unfortunately, the driver of the Ford, also a local resident, failed to notice the oncoming Chevrolet, causing both vehicles to collide in the middle of the intersection.

The impact of the collision rendered both vehicles undrivable, and they had to be towed away from the scene. The driver of the Ford, fortunately, was uninjured in the collision. However, the driver of the Chevrolet sustained injuries, suspected to be a fracture of the right forearm. She was given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.

The Gelsenkirchen Police have taken over the investigation of the accident. Unfortunately, the name of the investigating officer is not available in the current sources. For further inquiries, journalists and the public can contact the Gelsenkirchen Police Dispatch. Their contact details, including the email address [email protected], phone number 0209/365 2160, and website, are available on their official website.

During the investigation, tram traffic in both directions and one lane of traffic on Kurt-Schumacher-Str. heading towards Buer were stopped. The police are urging the public to be cautious and to follow all traffic regulations to ensure everyone's safety.

As the investigation continues, more details about the cause of the accident may be released. Stay tuned for updates from the Gelsenkirchen Police.
