Severe Road Incident: Collision Occurs on Highway 44 in Dortmund, Resulting in One Person's Injury

On August 29, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the A44 motorway, heading towards Dortmund, near Bielefeld. The accident took place between the Lichtenau Westfalen exit and the Wünnenberg junction at approximately 15:19.

The incident involved a collision between a silo truck and an overtaking motorhome. The 59-year-old driver from Dassel sustained serious injuries in the accident, while the driver of the silo truck from Gelsenkirchen remained uninjured.

The A44 motorway was fully closed for the accident investigation and recovery operations until 20:17. A diversion was set up to manage traffic flow.

During the accident, there were two dogs in the motorhome. The fire service successfully rescued them and took them to an animal shelter.

The goods in the silo transporter involved in the accident were transported by the company or person named "Hüdex Logistics GmbH." The driver was taken to a nearby hospital after receiving medical treatment at the scene.
