Head-On Collision in Bochum: Five Injured, Police Launch Investigation
A serious road accident took place in Bochum today, as a passenger car collided head-on with an unoccupied tour bus in Westenfelder StraΓe. The incident occurred at noon, and the emergency services swiftly responded.
According to a news article published by the Bochum Fire Department, the Wattenscheid fire station arrived at the scene within a few minutes, along with the rescue service. The automatic eCall of the passenger car reached the Bochum Fire Department's control center at 12:38 PM.
The accident resulted in five people from the passenger car receiving treatment on site by emergency paramedics and a doctor, with some suffering from serious injuries. Four children were among those injured. The driver of the tour bus remained uninjured and stayed at the scene.
The Bochum Fire Department's task was limited to securing the vehicles and supporting the rescue service. The operation to complete these tasks took about an hour for the 26 emergency personnel involved.
Following the accident, the police took over the investigation, with the traffic commissionerate initiating extensive investigations into the accident's cause. The five injured individuals were taken to a hospital in Gelsenkirchen for further treatment.
