Severe Car Collision on Bundesautobahn 23 Near Dägeling Leads to Three Hospitalized Individuals
Accident on A23 Highway Results in Multiple Injuries and Closure
On Thursday, August 26, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A23 highway in Dageiling, Germany. According to information provided by Presseportal.de, the incident involved three passenger cars.
The accident took place just before the Itzehoe-Süd exit at 17:43, causing the A23 to be closed in the direction of Heide until 21:00.
The crash resulted in multiple injuries. Two individuals were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, one person had minor injuries, and fortunately, the driver of the third vehicle remained unharmed. The 51-year-old driver of the leading Mercedes C-Class was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the 64-year-old driver from Büsum suffered minor injuries. The 50-year-old passenger from the same vehicle was also seriously injured.
The 64-year-old driver of the Mercedes C-Class is under investigation for reckless bodily harm, as the accident occurred when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle on the right lane. However, the name of the driver has not been disclosed in the available sources.
An expert has taken over the accident investigation at the request of the Itzehoe Public Prosecutor's Office, and the criminal investigation is being conducted by the Elmshorn Police Highway and District Office.
