September 11 Warning Day in 2025 under the Federal Jurisdiction
On September 11, 2025, a nationwide civil defense drill will take place across Germany. This exercise aims to test technical procedures and raise awareness among citizens about warning systems.
The Hochsauerlandkreis will participate in the drill, with the civil defense drill in this region commencing on the same day. At 11:00 AM, sirens in the control center of the Hochsauerlandkreis in Meschede-Enste will be activated for a specific tone sequence.
The tone sequence includes one minute of all-clear with a constant tone, followed by a minute of warning with an ascending and descending tone, and another minute of all-clear. There will be a five-minute pause between the tone sequences.
The population will be sensitized to the test alarm via warning apps like NINA and cell broadcast from mobile network providers. Further information on the settings and compatible devices for cell broadcast can be found at www.bbk.bund.de/cellbroadcast.
After the drill, citizens are invited to participate in an online survey at www.warntag-umfrage.de to share their experiences and provide feedback.
The federal government, states, and cities and municipalities will jointly test their warning systems in this exercise, which is being organised in collaboration with these authorities and organisations. The all-clear for the drill is expected around 11:40 AM.
For more information about the nationwide civil defense drill, please contact Carolin Fisch from Hochsauerlandkreis. The drill remains an important step towards ensuring the safety and preparedness of the German population.
