September 11 Warning Day in 2025 by the Federal Government

The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) will conduct a nationwide warning test on September 11, 2025. This test, known as the Bundesweiter Warntag, is a joint action day of the federal government, states, and municipalities, organised every second Thursday in September.

The aim of the test is to ensure the reliability and functionality of the warning system. It will subject the technical warning infrastructure to a stress test, including the warning multipliers who will send the test warning staggered to various channels, such as warning apps, radio and television, websites, social networks, advertising boards, and passenger information systems of transport providers.

The warning will be delivered via various means, including sirens, radio and television, digital city information boards, and smartphones. The municipalities can use sirens and loudspeaker vehicles to warn the population. The warning via cell broadcast will also be tested.

Interior Minister Dr. Tamara Zieschang emphasizes the importance of public trust in the German warning system, stating that it can save lives in an emergency. She encourages everyone to pay attention to the test warning and participate in the online survey that will be live on September 11, 2025, and active until September 18. Further information about the nationwide warning day can be found on the BBK's website: www.bbk.bund.de/bundesweiter-warntag.

The Interior Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Roman Poseck, emphasized the state's participation in the Warntag 2025. The test will involve the participation of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The all-clear will be given around 11:45 a.m., except via cell broadcast. The test warning will be triggered at 11 a.m. The test is aimed at identifying any weaknesses in the warning system and optimizing it if necessary.

This year's warning day will be accompanied by an online survey. Comprehensive information about warning in Germany will be provided to the population. The nationwide warning day was resolved by the Interior Ministers' Conference in 2019.

The BBK encourages everyone to stay informed and prepared for emergency situations. By participating in the nationwide warning test, we can ensure the continued effectiveness of the warning system and work together to keep our communities safe.
