Sending a woman for psychiatric evaluation following her attempt to approach Sultan Nazrin during the Perak Merdeka parade.
In the heart of IPOH on September 4, a woman was arrested on August 31 after she attempted to approach Sultan Nazrin during the Perak state-level National Day parade. The incident occurred while the Perak state anthem was being played.
The woman, who has a history of psychiatric treatment and a prior drug-related record, is currently being held under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 2001 (Act 615). The investigation into the incident has been completed, and the papers from the investigation will be submitted tomorrow to the Attorney General's Chambers in Putrajaya.
The Perak police chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, has promised updates on the case from time to time. He advised the public to avoid making unfounded speculations about the case, as it could interfere with the investigation process and jeopardise public order.
The state deputy public prosecutor's office is involved in the case, but the name of the public prosecutor handling the case is not publicly available. The woman has been referred to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan, for observation.
No further direction on the case has been given by the Attorney General's Chambers as of the article's date. The Perak police chief has assured the public that they are doing everything in their power to ensure a swift and fair resolution to the case.
