Self-esteem enhancement program for women commences in September
In the city of Lünen, women have the opportunity to enrol in a free self-defense course starting from September 2025. The ten-unit course, held in collaboration with the Criminal Prevention/Victim Protection department of the Dortmund Police Headquarters, aims to empower women with essential self-defense skills and knowledge.
The course, which begins on 22 September 2025, will be held on Mondays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The sessions will take place at two locations: the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-School (access via Süggelstraße).
Participants can expect a comprehensive curriculum that includes learning simple self-defense techniques, understanding perpetrator behavior, crime scenes, victim-offender relationships, and the right to self-defense. The instructors will also conduct exercises on confident body language, voice projection, and setting boundaries.
Role-playing and video analysis will reinforce the concepts taught, ensuring a practical and engaging learning experience. Officers from the Criminal Commissariat will also inform participants about police work and when to seek help.
Regular attendance is highly recommended as the units build upon each other. Registration for the course is open until 15 September, and interested participants can register via email at frauenbuero@ourwebsite or by phone at 02306 104-1350. For more information, please contact Equal Opportunities Officer Heike Tatsch at the same phone number or via email at heike.tatsch.04@ourwebsite.
This course is open to all women aged 18 and above who reside in Lünen. Take this opportunity to empower yourself and learn valuable self-defense skills in a supportive and safe environment.
