Seized Drug Stash Belonging to Two Syrians Confirmed in Rabet, Subsequently Secured
In a significant development, the police in Leipzig have carried out a successful drug raid at a Späti (convenience store) located on Bergstraße at Rabet. The raid, conducted by officers from Leipzig's homicide division and the city's trade office, uncovered a substantial amount of illicit substances, including 130 grams of heroin, 70 grams of methamphetamine, and 300 prescription pills.
Suspicions of drug dealing at the Späti had been mounting for some time, with several tips received over a longer period. Upon discovering the drugs, it was confirmed that the suspicions were well-founded. The drugs were found packaged in ready-to-use units, suggesting a well-established operation.
Two Syrian men, aged 22 and 20, who worked at the Späti were reported, and the 22-year-old's apartment was searched. The 22-year-old was already known to the police for violations of the Narcotics Act.
Following the drug discovery, city officials immediately banned the business. The Späti was sealed by the police, and the public prosecutor's office instructed the police to allow both Syrian men to go home after the discovery. The specific nature of the prescription pills was not specified in the article.
The police spokesperson stated that the discovery was a significant blow to the local drug trade, and they are continuing their investigation to identify any potential accomplices. This raid underscores the police's commitment to maintaining law and order in the city and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
