Hertha BSC: New CEO Outlines Promotion Goal and Squad Confidence

Hertha BSC, the Berlin-based football club, is gearing up for a new era with the appointment of Dr. Peter Görlich as its new CEO, effective September 1, 2025. Ralf Huschen will continue in his role as managing director, working alongside Görlich in the club's management.

Görlich has set promotion to the Bundesliga as the primary goal for the team, with 90 points still to play for. Speaking about the season ahead, Görlich expressed that he does not favour a difficult start over potential struggles at the end, contrary to the views of his colleague Fabian Drescher. Drescher, the club's president, has publicly stated his belief that the path to success is paved with setbacks.

The squad's performance this season has left much to be desired, with Hertha suffering a 0-2 home loss to Elversberg. Görlich acknowledged the team's shortcomings, stating that they are aware they haven't performed as well as they can. Despite this, Görlich expressed confidence in the team, believing it to be a good one.

There is currently unrest around Hertha, with the ultras demanding an explanation from the team council led by captain Fabian Reese. The possibility of a conversation between the ultras and the team council during the upcoming international break remains uncertain. Neither Görlich nor Drescher have expressed a need or intention to mediate between the two parties.

Drescher, however, does not see a need for himself to mediate, stating that he trusts the team council to handle the situation. The president remains calm despite Hertha's current 17th position in the table.

Görlich has observed a plan in place within the Hertha team and has formed a partnership with financial expert Ralf Huschen to help guide the club towards its goal. The new CEO's vision for the team's success is not attributed to Drescher, but Drescher's belief in the importance of setbacks is evident in his public statements.

As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Görlich's leadership and the team's determination will translate on the pitch. With promotion as the goal, Hertha BSC is poised for an exciting finish to the season.
