Search Efforts in Midland Channel Yield No Findings of Missing Persons (FW Hannover)

In the heart of Hannover, on Saturday evening, an emergency situation unfolded at the shore area of the Mittelland Canal in the List district.

Emergency services were alerted to a water rescue operation around 6:20 PM. Eyewitnesses had spotted a person in distress and placed an emergency call. The incident took place in the List district of Hannover, and it seemed that a male person was stuck on the shore of the Mittelland Canal due to exhaustion.

The regional control center in Hannover initiated a comprehensive search and rescue operation, involving 60 personnel and 17 vehicles. The operation was carried out both above and below the water, with the hope of locating and rescuing the person in distress.

Despite the tireless efforts of the emergency services, after exhausting all possibilities, the operation was called off at around 8:50 PM without result. The person could no longer leave the waterway on their own.

It is important to note that there is no information available about the person who was in distress near the Mittelland Canal in Hannover on Saturday evening at 18:20. The only related incident is the discovery of a deceased woman in the Mittelland Canal at Bad Essen on Tuesday evening, whose identity and cause of death remain unclear.
