The Chinese automaker BYD is set to debut its latest offering, the S6 SUV, at the Beijing Auto Show towards the end of this month. This new model joins BYD's expanding lineup of vehicles.
The S6 SUV is equipped with a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 118kw at 5800rpm and 215nm from 3500-4500rpm. While this engine represents older technology, BYD has also developed a more modern 2.0-liter engine that will be available as an option for the S6. This newer engine produces 103kw at 6000rpm and 186nm from 4000-4500rpm.
In addition to the S6, BYD is also preparing to launch its luxury SUV, the Yangwang U8L, priced at 180k USD and weighing 3.6 tons. This model will debut next week.
BYD's ambitions extend beyond the Chinese market, as the company aims to sell around 1 million cars overseas by the end of 2025. To support this growth, BYD has boosted its capital by 200%, reaching 1.28B USD, signifying a significant push for expansion.
It's worth noting that the Yangwang U8L is a separate model from the S6, ensuring that BYD's portfolio caters to a wide range of consumers.
The exact details about the features of both the S6 and the Yangwang U8L have not been disclosed at this time. Stay tuned for more updates from the Beijing Auto Show as we continue to bring you the latest news from the world of automobiles.
