Schools advised to incorporate Shaman and Gazmanov tunes in music education curriculum

The Russian Ministry of Education has taken a new initiative to develop the musical taste of teenagers and foster respect for national history. A list of 37 patriotic compositions, including modern songs by artists such as SHAMAN, Oleg Gazmanov, Sergei Trofimov, Denis Maydanov, and classical pieces like "Den Pobedy", "Krasno solnyshko", and "Moya Moskva", has been recommended for music lessons in schools.

This list, sent to the regions of Russia, will be introduced into the curriculum of Russian schools starting from the 2023/2024 school year. An expert group, comprising prominent cultural figures like Valery Gergiev, Ildar Abdrazakov, Yevgeny Knyazev, and Alexander Ryzhinsky, was responsible for the development of this list of patriotic compositions.

Schools in Russia have the autonomy to decide which recommended songs to include in the educational process. This initiative aims to foster not only musical appreciation but also patriotic and moral education among schoolchildren.

Yaroslav Dronov, better known by his stage name SHAMAN, is among the artists whose compositions are included in the recommended list. The decision to recommend these specific songs was made by the Ministry of Education of Russia.

It's worth noting that the list includes a variety of music genres, providing a diverse range of musical experiences for the students. This new initiative does not repeat the fact that schools in Russia are able to decide which recommended songs to include in the educational process, ensuring flexibility in the implementation of the new curriculum.

The new initiative is part of a broader effort to instil a sense of pride in Russia's history and culture among its youth. By incorporating these patriotic compositions into the school curriculum, the Russian Ministry of Education hopes to inspire a new generation of Russians to appreciate and uphold their cultural heritage.
