In the heart of Recklinghausen, the Road Safety Action Week has commenced, marking a significant step towards improving road safety in the region. This initiative, part of a larger statewide campaign led by the NRW Initiative #safetonthe roads, is being coordinated by the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen.

The action week, which runs from the 11th of June to the 18th, involves collaboration with various authorities and sees events taking place in multiple locations across the state. The aim is to promote road safety, with a particular focus on adherence to traffic rules.

The event in Recklinghausen began early on the 11th, around the Urbanus Elementary School, with students and the police joining forces to check numerous vehicles. The speed limit on Erler Street, near the school, is 30 km/h.

During the checks, 11 drivers were found to be speeding, with one man driving at almost double the limit. These speeders received a "Think-again note", while those who adhered to the traffic rules received a "Thank-you note". The notes serve as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to think carefully about their actions.

The media contact for the action week is Pia Weßing, who can be reached at 02361 55 1032 or [email protected]. The event can also be followed on the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen's website (https://recklinghausen.polizei.nrw/), Facebook (www.facebook.com/polizei.nrw.re), Twitter (x.com/polizei_nrw_re), Instagram (www.instagram.com/polizei.nrw.re), and WhatsApp (whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaARqGD6xCSHwLUxl91q).

It's worth noting that this is not the first time the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen has conducted such an action week. The event in Recklinghausen is just one of many efforts being made to promote road safety and encourage drivers to think carefully about their actions.

The joint control was well-received by all involved, with the students and police working together to ensure a safe environment for everyone. The action week in Recklinghausen is a testament to the community's commitment to road safety and a step towards creating a safer, more considerate driving culture.
