In the heart of Hanau, Germany, the redevelopment of the former Kaufhof building is moving forward, with the city signing a framework agreement with gmp General Planning Company for planning services. This historic building, located at Am Markt 14-18, 63450 Hanau, will undergo a transformation aimed at energy-efficient and building technology renovation.

Jan Stolte, an Associate Partner at gmp, expressed his excitement about contributing to Hanau's urban development. Known for their work on notable large-scale projects worldwide, including the redevelopment of Frankfurt stadium for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and Berlin's main railway station, gmp Architects from Hamburg will be responsible for the heritage-sensitive renovation of the former Kaufhof building.

The framework agreement initially covers two performance phases: basic evaluation and subsequent preliminary planning. The ground floor of the building has already been laid, and the setup of retail spaces by project partner satis&fy has begun.

The city of Hanau conducted a negotiated procedure with a competition for the award of planning services. gmp's offer received the highest score, reflecting their expertise and commitment to the project.

The city of Hanau would like to thank RKW Architektur+ for their work since the acquisition of the building in 2024. Jens Thormeyer and his team from RKW Architektur+ have done excellent work, according to the city, and their cooperation has allowed the Stadthof property development to progress at a consistent pace.
