Scania enters a three-year agreement with Unipart for the management of their service parts center based in Kunshan, China.

Scania, the Swedish truck manufacturing giant, has made significant strides in its Chinese operations with the launch of a new logistics facility in Kunshan, Jiangsu province. The facility, known as the Scania China Parts Center, is part of Scania's ongoing efforts to improve customer after-sales service quality and is a key step in Scania's China service strategy upgrade.

The partnership between Scania and Unipart, a leading supply chain management company, is expected to directly contribute to Scania's growth strategy in China. Unipart is now working out of Scania's new logistics facility, providing transport, inland haulage, storage, and pre-manufacturing value-added services.

One of the key benefits of the Scania China Parts Center is the optimised parts packaging system. This system enables customers to track orders by box number, improving parts tracking and customer experience. Furthermore, it helps customers purchase genuine Scania original parts, protecting the quality of parts and customer rights, and tackles counterfeiting of parts.

The integration of the facilities brings an impressive 120% increase in capacity and a 50% increase in operating efficiency. Inventory order processing at the Scania China Parts Center has been cut by 1.75 days, streamlining the supply chain and ensuring timely delivery of service parts.

The Scania China Parts Center is considered a powerful supplement to Scania's investment and production in Rugao, China. Scania is planning to open a $2.28 billion manufacturing hub in Rugao, Jiangsu province, 150 km northwest of Shanghai. When fully operational, the new factory will produce 50,000 commercial vehicles.

The Scania China Parts Center has also digitalised processes and improved the transparency of the service parts supply chain in China. This digitalisation is a significant milestone in Scania's long-term cultivation of the Chinese market.

Darren Leigh, CEO of Unipart, has stated that the successful launch of the project is a result of the partnership between Unipart and Scania. He expressed his confidence in the project's potential to revolutionise the aftermarket logistics services in China.

The Scania China Parts Center is not mentioned as having any direct relationship with the digitalization, inventory order processing, or optimized parts packaging improvements previously mentioned. However, these improvements are significant in their own right, contributing to Scania's overall goal of enhancing customer service and experience in China.

The new manufacturing hub in China will be Scania's third global production base, along with Sweden and Brazil. With these developments, Scania is now able to deliver the full range of service parts to all its dealer locations across China from the Scania China Parts Center.

In conclusion, the Scania China Parts Center and the new manufacturing hub in China mark significant milestones in Scania's long-term cultivation of the Chinese market. The partnership with Unipart is expected to drive growth and enhance customer service, positioning Scania for success in the competitive Chinese market.
