Sauercrowd guild fractures as leadership decisions spark player backlash in WoW Classic

Tensions have risen in the Sauercrowd guild within World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore. Guild leader Metashi, a well-known German Twitch streamer, has faced criticism from players over recent decisions. The disputes now threaten the group’s long-term goals, including a planned 40-player raid into Molten Core.

The conflict began after Metashi lost his first warrior in the Temple of the Swamp of Sorrows. Two other guild members also died in the same incident. Instead of starting a third character in WoW Classic Hardcore, he announced plans to switch to The Burning Crusade expansion if his current warrior dies. This decision sparked frustration among players like Dhalucard and Sieglinde, who argue that leadership expects top performers to carry others without offering the same dedication in return.

The guild has already seen a drop in active players, prompting an emergency meeting. Sieglinde revealed plans to take a short break from Sauercrowd to restart in TBC Classic in early February. Meanwhile, Dhalucard stated he would not level another rogue if his hardcore character died. These departures and shifting priorities now jeopardise the guild’s original aim: a fully geared 40-player raid ready for Molten Core. Discussions on Reddit have amplified the criticism, with many players expressing disappointment in Metashi’s handling of the situation. Some players claim the Sauercrowd project has effectively been shut down by leadership, though no official statement has confirmed this.

The guild’s future remains uncertain as key players reconsider their involvement. Without a resolution, the planned Molten Core raid could collapse due to dwindling numbers and unresolved disputes. For now, leadership has yet to address the concerns publicly or outline a clear path forward.
