Saudi Arabia's Cliffside Luxury Resort Desert Rock Now Open for Bookings

Desert Rock, a striking new luxury resort, has opened for bookings in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea region. The property blends dramatic architecture with rugged desert landscapes, offering 64 villas carved into cliffs and rock formations. Guests can now reserve stays at a resort designed to redefine high-end hospitality in the area.

The resort's design breaks away from traditional luxury hotels. Instead of standalone buildings, accommodation is embedded into the terrain—cliff faces, mountain crevices, and wadis. A three-bedroom Royal Villa sits in a secluded corner, while other options include Cave Suites and Hanging Villas. Interiors by Studio Paolo Ferrari use natural stone, sand, and bespoke furniture to complement the surroundings.

Activities focus on adventure and immersion in the desert environment. Visitors can try rock climbing, abseiling, and zip-lining, or learn survival skills. Stargazing sessions and guided hikes are also available. For relaxation, the spa offers treatments like the Moonlight Meteorite Massage and the Desert Rock Signature Ritual.

Dining is overseen by Turkish chef Osman Sezener, who brings experience from Michelin-starred kitchens. Six restaurants and bars serve creative dishes, with a focus on alcohol-free pairings. The Observatory, reached via a 120m suspension bridge, specialises in pastries matched with unique beverages.

Desert Rock is part of a larger expansion in the Red Sea region. Developer Red Sea Global plans over 50 luxury resorts by 2030, including 28 hotels with 8,000 rooms. The first resort, Six Senses Southern Dunes, opens in 2024, followed by The Namo and Desert Rock by 2026. The initial phase will complete with 16 hotels by the end of the decade.

The resort's cliffside villas and adventure-focused experiences set it apart in Saudi Arabia's growing luxury market. With bookings now open, Desert Rock joins a wave of high-end developments transforming the Red Sea into a global destination. The project aligns with the region's push to expand tourism beyond traditional offerings.
