Russia's aerospace industry is encouraged by Putin to focus on creating rocket engines
In a significant visit to the Kuznetsov design bureau aircraft engine manufacturing plant in Samara, Russia, President Vladimir Putin highlighted the importance of advancing Russia's aerospace and energy sectors.
During his visit, Putin urged the aerospace industry to focus on the development of booster rocket engines for space launch vehicles. He expressed Russia's continued leadership in the aerospace industry and emphasized the need to meet current and future needs, as well as to be successful competitors in the global market.
One of the key projects Putin discussed was the PD-26 aircraft engine, a collaboration between United Engine Corporation (UEC) and other partners. The development of the PD-26 engine, according to Putin, would enable the modernization of military transport aircraft and the construction of a new generation of wide-bodied civil planes.
The PD-26 engine is not just significant for the aerospace industry, but also for the energy sector. Putin highlighted the success of developing innovative engines for energy, despite sanctions imposed by Western countries. He specifically mentioned their use in gas transport infrastructure.
Putin also considered the development of the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline an extremely important theme, particularly for Russian gas exports to China. The Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, originally proposed years ago, has gained urgency as Russia looks to Beijing as a customer to replace Europe. Putin praised the pipeline as beneficial to both Russia and China.
Before visiting Samara, Putin spent the past week in China and the Russian far eastern port of Vladivostok. During his visit, he met with aerospace industry leaders and expressed his belief that Russia remains a leading force in the development of the aerospace industry.
Putin did not forget to note Russian success in developing innovations in the energy sector, despite sanctions imposed by Western countries. However, he did not repeat his emphasis on consistently renewing production capacity for engines for booster rockets in this paragraph.
In a statement to Russian news agencies during his visit to Samara, Putin expressed his satisfaction with the progress being made in the aerospace and energy sectors and reaffirmed Russia's commitment to continued development in these areas.
