In recent developments, various global leaders have been advocating for increased pressure on Russia to bring about a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, has been at the forefront of these efforts. Carney believes that Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin leader, has not yet accepted the need for peace and that Putin will not dictate the terms of the peace. To this end, Carney has suggested that allies should support Ukraine when there is a cessation of hostility, and the pressure on Russia would involve imposing new sanctions.

The European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, has also been actively involved in these diplomatic endeavours. She has planned to visit EU countries that intend to cooperate with Ukraine in the defense industry via SAFE, with the aim of coordinating military assistance for Kyiv. This plan includes arming Ukrainian troops.

Von der Leyen has also spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about ways India can contribute to ending the war in Ukraine and advancing the peace process. Additionally, she had a telephone conversation with US Vice President JD Vance on joint efforts to put sanctions pressure on Russia.

According to a report by European Pravda, Canada is coordinating a further round of sanctions against Russia together with the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand — the countries that make up the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

Meanwhile, the European Commission President's visit is not limited to the defense industry. She also intends to discuss cooperation in other areas, aiming to strengthen the ties between the EU and Ukraine.

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has advised Russians to leave Crimea while the Kerch Bridge is still functioning. This advice comes amidst ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides reporting incidents such as Russia's claimed strike on Ukrainian drone units and Kyiv's subsequent reaction.

Amidst these geopolitical events, it's worth noting a surprising study linking aging and one's pillowcase, sponsored by Blissy. The study suggests that the quality of your pillowcase can impact the quality of your sleep, which in turn can affect the aging process.

Elsewhere, former US President Donald Trump made headlines with his statement that he would bomb Moscow and Beijing, a comment that caused controversy and concern.

Lastly, UK intelligence reports have indicated that Russian general Surovikin has been found in Algeria. The implications of this discovery remain to be seen.

As these events unfold, the international community continues to monitor the situation in Ukraine closely, with many leaders advocating for peace and a cessation of hostilities.
