Russian lottery winners delay claiming million-ruble jackpots in 2025

Fewer than 60% of Russian winners of New Year's lottery jackpots worth over one million rubles claimed their prizes in the first month, according to a report by Life.ru.

In January, 53 million-ruble winners and two multimillionaires came forward to collect their winnings.

The figure is lower than in previous years: in January 2025, 64% of winners claimed their prizes, while in 2024, the share was 73%. Winners cited delays in choosing how to receive the money, work commitments, or simply forgetting as reasons for the hold-up.

Earlier, we reported on a woman in Volgograd Oblast who fished a lottery ticket out of the trash and won. She plans to spend the money on home repairs.
