Russian Island firms donate 600M rubles to boost Primorsky Krai’s infrastructure

Two international companies based in the Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Russian Island have donated 600 million rubles to Primorsky Krai. The funds will support key infrastructure projects, including healthcare and sports facilities. This marks one of the largest private contributions to the region’s development in recent years.

The SARs were created in August 2018 to boost investment and infrastructure growth on Russian Island and Oktyabrsky Island. By September 2025, the Russian Island SAR hosted 131 registered firms with combined assets of 5.5 trillion rubles. Three of these firms—Summa Group, AEON Corporation, and Volga Group—each contributed 300 million rubles to Primorsky Krai.

The Legislative Assembly recently adjusted the 2025 budget, adding 4.2 billion rubles in extra revenue. Vera Shcherbina, First Deputy Governor and head of the regional government, confirmed the donations. She stated that the funds would go towards seven projects under Primorsky Krai’s targeted investment programme.

A portion of the money will finance new healthcare centres and ice rinks across the region. The projects aim to improve public services and sports infrastructure for local residents.

The 600 million ruble donation will directly fund construction and development initiatives in Primorsky Krai. Officials have already allocated the funds to specific projects, with work expected to begin soon. The contributions highlight the growing role of SAR-based businesses in regional development.
