Rural areas receive a visit from Hauk
Minister Peter Hauk's August Tour of Climate Change Adaptation Projects
Minister Peter Hauk, the head of the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, embarked on a tour of various projects across Germany in August 2025. The tour aimed to inform himself about initiatives that promote climate change adaptation in various sectors, particularly in the fruit growing industry.
The tour began on August 12, 2025, with a visit to the Agri-Photovoltaic Model Plant Test Field in Merdingen. Here, Minister Hauk learned about the potential of combining agriculture and renewable energy. He also visited the Geßlerhof in Ebenweiler, where he inspected a pilot project for climate change adaptation in fruit growing, a project he had previously visited in July 2020.
On August 14, 2025, Minister Hauk visited the Competence Center for Fruit Growing, Gardening, and Landscape in Weil der Stadt. He took the opportunity to inspect the "Goose Management Concept" pilot project and the LEKI company, both of which are significant contributors to the fruit growing sector. The same day, he also visited the Research Institute in Langenargen, where he gained insights into various research activities.
The following day, Minister Hauk visited the city forest of Villingen-Schwenningen and the wooden new construction of the Collegium Academicum student and apprentice dormitory. On August 19, 2025, he informed himself about the current African Swine Fever situation and the trainee program of AgrarKontakte International e.V.
The tour continued on August 20, 2025, with visits to the Steinhauser Distillery in Kressbronn and the wooden new construction of the Pfahlbaumuseum in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen. Minister Hauk also took the opportunity to visit the city forest of Villingen-Schwenningen and the pilot project for climate change adaptation in fruit growing in the Spiegelberg community.
On August 21, 2025, Minister Hauk visited Neuenstein to learn about climate-resilient forests. The same day, he visited the Mack family and Metzgerei Linder in Denzlingen.
