RTA Unveils Three-Lane Bridge to Improve Traffic from Infinity Bridge to Sheikh Rashid Road

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has made a significant stride in the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project. H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, recently inaugurated a new 1,210-metre bridge, marking another milestone in the ambitious project.

The new bridge, which has a capacity to accommodate 4,800 vehicles per hour, is part of Phase 4 of the project. This phase spans 4.8 km and includes a total of 5 bridges, amounting to 3.1 km. The newly opened bridge eases flow from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Infinity Bridge, providing much-needed relief to the city's traffic.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer affirmed that the project reflects the leadership's vision to support urban growth and mobility in Dubai. Upon full completion, the project is expected to generate AED 45 billion in economic value over 20 years and benefit 1 million residents.

The project also includes road upgrades from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Falcon Intersection. Additionally, intersection enhancements have been implemented on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street.

A 605m bridge is improving access from Al Mina Street to Sheikh Rashid Road, while a 1,335m bridge has already opened, easing flow from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Infinity Bridge.

Two remaining bridges are scheduled to open in Q2 2025: a 780m bridge connecting Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street and a 985m bridge connecting Jumeirah Street to Falcon Intersection. The combined capacity of the 5 bridges in Phase 4 is 19,400 vehicles per hour.

Upon full completion, the project is expected to reduce travel time from the current 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. The project also includes 2 new pedestrian bridges on Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street.

Initiated by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Al Shindagha Corridor project spans 13 km, connecting Deira and Bur Dubai. The project is a testament to Dubai's commitment to providing efficient and modern infrastructure to its growing population.
