Romania's First Sensory Lounge Opens for Autistic Football Fans
A new Sensory Lounge has opened at Romania's National Arena to support young football fans with autism. The space was created through a partnership between the Neuroatipic Foundation and the Romanian Football Federation. It will be available during all FC Rapid 1923 home matches, offering a quieter environment for children and their families.
The initiative launched officially on March 2, during the Rapid-FCSB derby. FC Rapid 1923 joined the Neuroatipic League to help children with autism enjoy live football in a more comfortable setting. The lounge can accommodate up to 10 people and will remain open for every match at the stadium.
To raise further funds, the club has donated three signed collector's shirts for auction. All proceeds will support the construction of the Neuroatipic Center, Romania's first therapy hub designed specifically for neurodiversity. The foundation aims to improve access to development and integration for young people with autism spectrum disorders. So far, no other Romanian football clubs have announced plans for similar sensory spaces in their stadiums. However, the Romanian Football Federation has encouraged other teams to follow FC Rapid 1923's example and provide access to comparable facilities.
The Sensory Lounge allows young fans with autism to attend matches with their parents in a tailored environment. FC Rapid 1923's involvement and the upcoming auction will help fund the Neuroatipic Center's development. The project marks a step toward greater inclusion in Romanian football.
