Romanian authorities aim to streamline document handling with a 15 million euro investment in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology.

The Romanian government has extended a EUR 15 million contract with UiPath, a leading company in automation software, to automate processes within the public administration. The decision was made following a memorandum approved by the government on August 21, 2022, and announced by USR MP Radu Mihaiu.

Initially, the project was scheduled to be completed before the end of 2025. However, concerns about not meeting the PNRR deadline led to the project's previous scrapping. The extension of the project involves the implementation of software automation of processes (RPA solutions) in at least 18 central public institutions.

The memorandum, promoted by Radu Miruta, economy minister of USR's party, and Dragos Pislaru, investments minister of REPER, proposes to extend the implementation period of the financing contract until August 31, 2026. The service contract for the automation of RPA robotic work processes has an implementation period of at least 12 months.

The extension of the project was proposed due to the need for a unified and efficient implementation of RPA solutions. The news was reported by Economedia.ro, but no specific reason for the extension was provided in the news article.

The project is financed under the National Relaunch and Resilience Plan (PNRR). With this extension, the Romanian authorities aim to streamline public administration processes, improving efficiency and service delivery to citizens. The details about who signed the memorandum for the extension of the financing agreement and the date it was approved by the government council remain undisclosed.
