"Robots and autonomous vehicles are on the horizon, according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: everything in motion will become robotic"
In a recent episode of Cleo Abram's Huge Conversations, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang discussed the future of AI and robotics. Huang expressed his belief that his company, Nvidia, will play a major role in a world dominated by robots and artificial intelligence.
One of Nvidia's key contributions to this field is Cosmos, a technology designed to make 3D universes more realistic. However, Huang's vision extends beyond virtual reality. He believes that AI could be involved in every aspect of life, from digital biology and climate technology to agriculture, fishery, robotics, transportation, and logistics optimization.
Huang's optimism for the widespread use of robots is evident. He predicts that everything that moves will become robotic in the near future, with personal humanoid robots being a reality soon. The idea of having a personal assistant robot in everyday life is not just a lofty one for Huang. He suggests that we may have a personal humanoid robot for our entire life, growing up with it.
One of the technologies that could make this vision a reality is the Jetson AGX Thor, a robotics computing platform (often referred to as a "robot brain") that enables higher agility, faster decision-making, and greater autonomy in robots.
Nvidia's Omniverse platform also plays a crucial role in this future. It allows robots to learn through digital simulations, reducing the time and potential wear and tear required for physical world training. This means that robots can now learn and adapt without the need for extensive real-world testing.
Despite the excitement surrounding these predictions, it's important to note that the cost of personal humanoid robots remains uncertain. Huang also predicts that every car will be robotic in the future, suggesting that we may soon be surrounded by robots in our daily lives.
Whether or not Huang's optimism is premature remains to be seen. However, one thing is certain - Nvidia is committed to playing a significant role in a robot-forward, AI-run future. With advancements like Cosmos, the Jetson AGX Thor, and Omniverse, it's clear that Nvidia is at the forefront of this technological revolution.
