Robbery Suspect Apprehended Following Theft of Handbag
In an update from the Paderborn Police, it was announced that two suspects were apprehended in connection with a handbag theft incident that occurred on Detmolder Straße.
The incident unfolded on March 2, 2023, around 3:10 PM, when a witness alerted the police to a woman's handbag being rummaged through in front of the Sparkasse. The suspects, observed by the witness, fled towards Senneweg after being approached.
Police officers in the vicinity found a 33-year-old father and his 14-year-old son who matched the description of the suspects and took them into custody. The suspects were initially hiding in the bushes near the church but continued down the street before turning into the driveway behind the local bakery and losing sight.
The handbag and the wallet, previously belonging to the victim, were found and returned to the owner. However, no further details about the suspects' identities or charges have been released at this time. The police are continuing their investigation into the handbag theft.
The 33-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident is an Austrian citizen who was detained in Vienna-Simmering after being found with keys, a possibly stolen bicycle, and small amounts of drugs. He was initially held but then released on order of the Vienna public prosecutor's office. No additional suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with the incident.
