Robbery Report: Valuable $250K Diamond Heist at The Palazzo Casino

Four individuals are being accused for allegedly stealing diamonds rings valued at $250K from The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas last month. The valuable rings were contained in a bag during a conference at the strip property. The bag was taken from an anonymous jeweler at a bar inside the gaming property on May 31st.

The four suspects were seated next to the jeweler, receiving the bag with a foot nudge, controlling the bag, and concealing the theft from view, as per Las Vegas TV station KLAS. The criminal act was recorded on casino surveillance video.

Law enforcement officers were on high alert for the suspects on June 1st. They were quickly found and detained. One suspect was found with the jeweler's cord around his neck.

The apprehended individuals were Juan Parrado Mendez, David Parrado Mendez, Melany Millian Lopez, and Leidy Grisales Suarez. Each was charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit grand larceny, according to court records. A judge granted each of them bail on their personal recognizance.

Their cases will be forwarded to local prosecutors. The jeweler later reported to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) that he had to bring the bag into the bar due to insurance policies that necessitated his constant possession.

Casino Seat-Switching Scheme in Indiana

Three individuals were taken into custody for their participation in a scheme where they switched seats in a casino in Indiana to claim a jackpot in April.

This event transpired at Bally’s Evansville Casino & Hotel, where the trio took part in a "jackpot switch," as described by Indiana TV station WEVV.

The suspects identified were Shinvar Abdullatif, Ali Mohamad, and Delavan Mohammed, all residents of Nashville, Tenn. Abdullatif won a jackpot, after which Mohammed allegedly took Abdullatif’s seat near the gaming machine to claim the reward.

Previously that same day, Abdullatif executed four other jackpot switches, police reported. Mohammed was involved in three of these, and Mohamad participated in one, added the authorities.

Interestingly, it was discovered that Abdullatif had placed his name on a self-exclusion list at the casino, making it illegal for him to enter the casino for a year.

After the incident, the suspects were detained at Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville, Ind. Each was later released from custody. The investigation was conducted by the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC).
