Road transport of generators headed towards flooded communities
In the aftermath of the recent floods, the Siberian town of Neryungri-1 finds itself in a critical situation, with four Olekmin villages, including Neryungri-1, left without electricity. The exact timeline for the restoration of electricity and roads in the affected areas remains unspecified.
According to reports from residents, humanitarian aid has arrived, but no generators have been delivered yet. This has left many residents without the means to cook or heat their homes. It is not known if the humanitarian aid includes gas stoves.
The flooding has caused electricity poles to fall, further complicating the restoration efforts. The exact number of generators being delivered, with a capacity of 100 kW each, has not been disclosed. Some of the generators have already been sent via land to the flooded Olekmin villages, but logistics remain challenging due to the poor road conditions.
A financial reserve of 100 million rubles has been allocated for the municipalities to aid in the restoration of roads damaged by the flood. However, the allocation of funds and resources does not guarantee immediate restoration of electricity or roads in the affected villages.
In a statement, Dmitry Sadovnikov addressed the situation, but no information was provided about the name of the head of the government ministry who organized aid for the flood-affected areas in Yakutia. Semen Korokin, deputy minister of transport and road management of the republic, stated that emergency restoration work will begin after the water level drops.
Delivery vehicles are getting stuck in the rough terrain, adding to the difficulties faced by those working to restore power and roads. The timeline for the commencement of restoration work is yet to be specified.
The situation in Neryungri-1 remains critical, with many residents still without electricity and unable to cook. As the community awaits the arrival of generators and the commencement of restoration work, hopes remain that normalcy will soon return.
