Road Shutdown on Cape Town's Route from August 25th to November 14th, 2025

Greifswald residents and visitors, take note! A significant construction project is set to commence on August 25, 2022, affecting traffic and parking in the city. The project focuses on expanding district heating and drinking water networks in Kapaunenstraße, with an estimated completion date of November 14, 2025.

Here's what you can expect during the construction period:

Moving Construction Site: To ensure the availability of parking spaces for residents, the construction site will be a moving one. This means that sections of Kapaunenstraße will be temporarily closed in stages throughout the construction period.
Changes in Bus Routes: For lines 2 and 3, there will be rerouting from the central bus station (ZOB). In the direction of Campus Loefflerstraße, these lines will be diverted via Wollweberstraße into Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. Conversely, from Campus Loefflerstraße, lines 2 and 3 will be rerouted via Wollweberstraße before 06:00 and after 22:00. The Rathaus stop will serve as an alternative stop during these hours.
Traffic Redirection: Traffic coming from the train station will be rerouted via Wollweberstraße to Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. On the other hand, traffic coming from Hansering will only be able to access Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße up to Rotgerberstraße from August 25 to September 22, 2025, due to an additional closure in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. To reach the train station, you can take a detour via Hansering - Goethestraße - Bahnhofstraße - Zentrum.
One-Way Streets: The one-way street in Wollweberstraße will be reversed, and the one-way street in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße will be extended up to Kapaunenstraße.
Changes in Traffic Management: The changes in traffic management in Wollweberstraße and Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße (dead end) will remain in effect for the entire construction period. The name of the street to which traffic management is being redirected from the ZOB is not specified.
Parking Disruptions: The construction will be carried out in several phases to minimize parking disruptions. However, it's essential to plan for potential delays.
Heat and Water Supply: Rest assured that the heat and water supply in Kapaunenstraße will remain unaffected during the construction.
