Road closure in Eißendorf as the 11th cycle route expansion continues: Denickstraße affected once more

The city of Hamburg is set to undergo significant roadworks at the intersection of Denickestraße and Weusthoffstraße, with the project commencing on April 15, 2024. The works, carried out by the company STRABAG, will encompass roadway, drainage, and sidewalk repairs, as well as an expansion of the bus stop on Denickestraße.

In the first phase, Denickestraße between Schüslerweg and Weusthoffstraße will be fully closed to motorized traffic. However, the Denickestraße/Schüslerweg junction will remain passable. Temporary stops will be set up on Heimfelder Straße for buses, and pedestrian and cyclist traffic will be safely routed through the construction site.

From July 18 to August 28, 2024, street, civil engineering, and utility works will be carried out at the Weusthoffstraße/Denickestraße intersection. During this period, the "Denickestraße" bus stop will be suspended in both directions, and bus routes will be detoured via Heimfelder Straße.

The intersection will be fully closed to motorized traffic during these works, with detours via Ehestorfer Weg, Triftstraße, and Heimfelder Straße. The Denickestraße will be opened to Triftstraße within a few days.

In addition, starting on April 15, work will begin on the Weusthoffstraße/Denickestraße intersection for the expansion of cycle path 11, a project that is expected to continue until October 2024.

The final asphalt works over two weekends in October 2024 will see the entire intersection closed, with detours for motorized traffic and buses via Ehestorfer Weg, Triftstraße, Denickestraße, and Eißendorfer Pferdeweg.

During all mentioned periods, pedestrian and cyclist traffic will be safely routed through the construction site. It is important to note that the "AK Harburg" bus stop towards Finkenwerder will also be suspended.

Furthermore, in September 2024, the eastern part of Denickestraße will be closed for four weeks. These closures will affect motorized traffic, with pedestrian and cyclist traffic safely routed through the construction site.

Touch-up work on the Denickestraße area will be completed by next Tuesday. The works on the Weusthoffstraße/Denickestraße intersection for the expansion of cycle path 11 are expected to continue until October 2024.

We advise motorists and pedestrians to plan their routes accordingly and to follow the detour signs during these works. The city of Hamburg appreciates your understanding and cooperation during these necessary renovations.
