Riga's cultural weekend bursts with poetry, art and wild flavors

Riga is set for a busy cultural weekend with three major events taking place. The international Poetry Days festival continues, while the White Night art forum lights up the city on Saturday night. On Sunday, Mushroom Day and the Zaube Wild Food Fest will also draw visitors with unique activities and tastings. The Poetry Days festival runs from September 2 to 14, offering a mix of literary events. Attendees can enjoy a poetry disco, queer poetry readings, and a guided walk with poets. A special evening dedicated to Latgalian poetry is also planned.

On the night of September 7-8, the White Night art and culture forum will transform Riga. Over 30 installations, performances, and concerts will take place across the city. Neighbourhoods like the Old Town, Jugla, Teika, and Imanta will host exhibitions and live shows.

The following day, Mushroom Day arrives at Āgenskalns Market. The Latvian Mycological Society will lead workshops and display local mushroom species. Visitors can explore a mushroom market and try themed dishes at nearby cafes.

Alongside these events, the Zaube Wild Food Fest will also take place this weekend, adding to the city's cultural and culinary offerings. The weekend brings a mix of poetry, art, and nature-themed activities to Riga. White Night's citywide events will run late into Saturday, while Mushroom Day and the Zaube Wild Food Fest provide Sunday alternatives. Each festival offers distinct experiences for locals and visitors alike.
