Ride the bus, made possible with the Germany ticket!
The county of Ilse has made a significant change to its public transportation system with the introduction of free travel on the Ilse Call Bus for passengers using the Germany Ticket, effective September 1. However, the move has been met with mixed reactions, as critics argue that the bus service still falls short in terms of operation hours and coverage.
Previously, the Germany Ticket offered a 10% discount on fares for the Ilse Call Bus. But now, passengers can travel for free, bringing the Ilse Call Bus in line with many other public transport systems in Germany. The operator responsible for implementing this change has not been explicitly identified, and the Vorpommern Transport Company has not made much effort to publicize the change.
The Ilse Call Bus operates without a schedule, and passengers can order it like a taxi between 8 am and 6 pm on weekdays, with exceptions for public transport offers within 30 minutes. However, it does not operate during the night, and its coverage is limited to certain areas of the county. The service does not run if there is an offer in public transport within 30 minutes before or after the requested time.
Erik von Malottki, a member of the SPD party, has been a vocal advocate for expanding the Ilse Call Bus system, demanding operation on weekends and later in the evening. He expressed pleasure that his proposal regarding the Ilse Call Bus and the Germany Ticket has been implemented, but he continues to call for more.
Despite not being elected as the county commissioner, Michael Sack (CDU) remains in the position. The limited operation hours and coverage of the Ilse Call Bus system have been a source of criticism, with the service facing calls to improve and expand to better serve the community.
Interestingly, the Ilse Call Bus system's website still provides incorrect information about the use of the Germany Ticket. Despite the change in fare regulations, the website still states that a surcharge is required when using the Germany Ticket. This discrepancy highlights the need for clear and accurate communication from the Vorpommern Transport Company.
The Germany Ticket allows free use of Deutsche Bahn's local transport throughout Germany. Its acceptance in Ilse Call Buses marks a positive step towards integrating the Ilse Call Bus system with the broader German public transportation network. However, the challenge now lies in addressing the concerns of critics and expanding the service to better serve the needs of the community.
