Revealed: New Emblem for National Day Celebration
Double Ten National Day Logo Unveiled with a Subdued and Elegant Design
The Taiwan National Day Preparatory Committee has unveiled the official logo for this year's Double Ten National Day celebrations. The logo, shared on Facebook by the committee, features two Chinese characters for "10" joined together in the colours of the national flag - red, blue, and white.
The design also includes a brush-stroke texture, symbolising creativity and evoking a flying flag, highlighting Taiwan's "diversity, freedom, and confidence." The brush-painting motif in the Double Ten National Day logo was chosen to represent these values.
Unlike last year's design, the new emblem does not include the plum blossom element introduced by Han Kuo-yu, the head of the Double Ten National Day planning committee this year. Han Kuo-yu, of the Chinese Nationalist Party, headed the committee in place of the legislative speaker, a customary role.
Deputy Minister of the Interior Wu Tang-an explained that the subdued Morandi color palette was chosen to convey "steadiness and maturity," in contrast to the brighter tones of previous years.
The English slogan "A Beautiful Taiwan Today, A Better Taiwan Tomorrow" is part of the logo design, carried over from last year. The logo was unveiled yesterday, and a photo of it was published in the Taipei Times.
Internet users have expressed mixed reactions to the Double Ten National Day logo. Some find it "depressing" and "ugly," while others praise it as a "great design" with an "elegant" shade of gray.
