Revamped Traffic Regulations and Limitations Implemented
News Article: Traffic Management Measures on the A4 Between Köln-Klettenberg and Köln-Eifeltor
Starting from the next two weekends, a new traffic management will be implemented on the A4 between Köln-Klettenberg and Köln-Eifeltor. This measure is in effect until further notice and is being implemented to protect the DB crossing structure "Eifeltor".
The exit and entry of the A4 in the direction of Olpe at the interchange Köln-Klettenberg will be closed on Friday night (4/5.4.) from 21:00 to 05:00, and Saturday night (5/6.4.) from 21:00 to 09:00. Similarly, the A4 in the direction of Aachen between the interchanges Köln-Eifeltor and Köln-Klettenberg will be reduced to one lane on Friday night (11/12.4.) from 21:00 to 05:00, and Saturday night (12/13.4.) from 21:00 to 09:00.
Heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will be directed to the right in both directions. A speed limit of 40 km/h is in place on the structure due to space constraints.
The specific closures and interchange restrictions for the setup of the traffic management were not detailed in the press release. Occasional daytime narrowings such as short-term lane closures may occur due to moving construction sites before the nights of 11/12.4. and 12/13.4.
The DB crossing structure "Eifeltor" crosses the A4 over the tracks of Deutsche Bahn in the area of the transshipment station Köln-Eifeltor. This structure was built in 1956 and was widened in 1988. In 1993, a further parallel structure was added, over which the parallel lane in the direction of Aachen runs between the interchanges Köln-Eifeltor and Köln-Klettenberg.
For accurate and up-to-date information about construction sites and closures on the A4 in the specified section, it is essential to make a targeted enquiry at the official sources. Recommended information sources include Straßen.NRW, WDR-Verkehrszentrale, NRWision or NINA-App, Google Maps & Google Verkehr, and Autobahnmeisterei Köln.
It is advisable to check these sources for the latest updates before the journey, plan the travel time, and consider alternative routes. U-Bahn, S-Bahn, or Stadtbahn (such as lines 1, 7, 9, 13) are often quicker than cars in dense city traffic.
Such announcements are usually published 1-2 weeks in advance!
