Revamped Powercat, Sunreef Ultima 55: Exuding Style and Athleticism with a Touch of Penthouse Elegance
New Sunreef Ultima 55 Powercat Makes Waves at Cannes Yachting Festival
The Sunreef Ultima 55, the first of a new range of twin-hulled sportscruisers from Sunreef Yachts, is making a splash at the Cannes Yachting Festival. This powercat, which made its world debut at the Dubai boat show in February, offers a sporty alternative to Sunreef's range of high volume cruising catamarans.
Built at a new shipyard in the United Arab Emirates, the Ultima 55 boasts an aggressive design with arrowhead stems and forward-raked bridge windows. The boat's interior provides a comfortable air-conditioned respite from the open cockpit, with a chic saloon and a deckhouse configured with a large lounge aft, an amidships galley, and a two-seat helm console.
The Ultima 55 is equipped with a pair of Volvo Penta D8 IPS-800s, which deliver a top speed of 35 knots and a fast cruise of 24 knots. The boat also features walkaround decks, a large sunpad on the foredeck, and fold-down quarter cheeks that extend the cockpit. With the platforms down, the Ultima 55's beam extends to 24ft 11in, making it ideal for Mediterranean dayboating and rapid hops between anchorages.
The boat has two ensuite double cabins, one in each hull. The port cabin is larger as it extends further aft. To make room for a snug crew cabin behind the starboard cabin, this cabin is cut short. The Ultima 55's 15kWh lithium battery bank ensures silent running at anchor.
Prices for the boat start at €2.2 million excluding taxes. A dozen 55s have already been sold, including a couple of Brabus versions. The Ultima 55 provides a different vibe compared to Sunreef's usual voluminous cruising cats, with its sporty looks and fold-down side terraces.
The Sunreef Ultima 55 is not the only new boat making headlines. The Frauscher 1414 Demon is currently being showcased at the 2023 Boot Düsseldorf Boat Show. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting new vessels!
